Since 2013, Engility has donated more than $245,000 to Building Homes for Heroes’ (BHFH) mission of rebuilding the lives of our nation’s most severely injured veterans. In that time, we have taken a personal interest in the lives and sacrifices of seven heroes.
In 2018, we doubled our efforts. We were privileged to join BHFH in telling two families they are receiving mortgage-free homes!
Miriam Gonzalez, mother of retired U.S. Air Force Captain Gabriel Gonzalez, learns from Engility CEO Lynn Dugle that her son is getting a mortgage-free home from Building Homes for Heroes. Lynn was joined by BHFH representatives, St. Petersburg’s 2017 Veteran of the Year and U.S. Army Sergeant Charles Claybaker, and NGA’s Major General Urrutia-Varhall. See video.
Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Lloyd Howard Jr. and his family were joined by former home recipient Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant Christopher Claude and his daughter at Engility’s annual veterans picnic. Surprised with the news of a gifted home during the event, the Howards were able to move in only one month later! See video.

About Building Homes for Heroes
Building Homes for Heroes was borne out of the heartbreaking terror attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. Deeply affected by the tragic events that day, Andy Pujol, BHFH president and founder, pledged to serve his country by helping those who defend and protect it. Building Homes for Heroes was officially founded in 2006. They build, modify and enhance homes, and gift them, mortgage-free, to injured veterans and their families. Beyond gifting homes, they are helping military veterans and their families whose lives have been affected by severe physical injuries or psychological trauma as a result of their service.
In 2016, BHFH gifted their milestone 100th mortgage-free home. For more information and for ways you can help, visit buildinghomesforheroes.org.
