EDIS Program Objectives

The EDIS acquisition is for a new, single Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract for followon services supporting the Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) Advanced Systems and Development Directorate, Ground Systems and Space Operations Division (SMC/ADG) at Kirtland Air Force Base, NM. This contract will provide engineering, development, integration, and sustainment services supporting the United States Air Force’s (USAF) Research and Development Space and Missile Operations (RDSMO) Ground System Enterprise (GSE), including the transition to and buildout of Enterprise Ground Services (EGS).

SMC/ADG mission is to operate and sustain an affordable GSE for Research & Development and demonstration missions; develop innovative solutions to reduce Operations & Maintenance (O&M) costs; provide a test bed to prove out emerging concepts; and remain a viable choice for all new ground Command and Control (C2) programs. SMC/ADG provides a collaborative partnership among developmental, test and operational units to seamlessly develop and rapidly field new capabilities, standardize satellite operations and exploit core competencies and strengths in support of the Multi-Mission Satellite Operations Center (MMSOC) Ground System Architecture (GSA) and other Department of Defense (DoD) activities. In addition, SMC/ADG supports fixed and mobile satellite ground systems.

The GSE represents the entire ground infrastructure that falls under the RDSMO program. The primary components of the GSE include, but are not limited to, the MMSOC C2 GSA, the core Common User Equipment (CUE) and communications equipment (COMM), the organic Mobile Range Flight (MRF) systems such as Global Space Telemetry Resource (GSTR) antennas, and facilities that fall under the RDSMO program. SMC/ADG vision is to create an innovative and collaborative R&D/demo GSE and be the preferred GSE for all Air Force Space Command (AFSPC) R&D/demo missions; and influence all future operational ground programs.
